Suspect in Anchorage homicide indicted on multiple charges
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Anchorage Police Department arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred in January in the North Star neighborhood of Anchorage.
Police arrested and charged 29-year-old Miles Owen White with first- and second-degree murder and third-degree misconduct involving weapons, police said in an updated news release on Feb. 11.
On Feb. 21, an Anchorage grand jury indicted White on one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder and one count of third-degree misconduct involving weapons, according to a news release from the Department of Law.
According to police, Elijah Anderson, 23, was found dead with trauma to the upper body after police responded to a report of shots fired on Eureka Street off West Fireweed Lane late on the night of Jan. 25.
White was also indicted on one count of third-degree escape because he was on conditions of release for unrelated charges and had removed his ankle monitor at the time of the alleged homicide, the Department of Law said.
If convicted at trial, White faces up to 99 years in prison for the murder charges.
Police say the Alaska State Troopers assisted them in finding the suspect.
